Thursday

We are having such a blast getting to know these kids - what a sweet, fun, happy bunch we have on our hands!  Much of our time at school this week has been used to get a feel for each of the students.  By providing open-ended experiences, with typical toddler interests in mind (like making big movements, exploring with the senses, object permanence) we have been able to collect information on how each of your children may explore the world and what each of them needs to feel safe, happy, curious, and challenged with us.

Here are some of the questions that often run through our minds, as educators, when we meet a brand new group of kids:
  • What is the temperament of each child?  How does a child's temperament line up with our own?
  • What are each of the children easily drawn to in the classroom and how much time does each spend with a particular item or task?
  • How do the children interact with each other?
  • What makes each child smile?
  • What do each of the children need to feel safe?
